Hello my name is josh
My german citizen wife have been married for 4 years now and we have 2 children together. The 3 of them currently live in germany and iam wanting to go and live with them. We are hoping i can enter the country on a Spouse Visa. Iam writing to ask if i would qualify for a Greman Spouse Visa if i have criminal convictions here in australia. Those convictions are Drug possession, wilfull damage, common assault, serious assault and a stealing charge. I would like to no if possible before i fly over there to apply for the visa if i will be denied the German spouse visa or will they look past the criminal convictions because my family are living their. Please help me and if you can not can you please direct me to the people who can help with my enquiry. I have called both German consulants here in australia as i am an australian citizen, and abroard in Germany and they have not beeen able to offer me any assistance. Can you plese help me.

I suggest, that you request for a visa before flying to germany. Its possible, that a vis is denied because of the convictions. But it is not a must. Germany will check yor informations you will gice in the application form. Because there are several convictions it will be not easy to get the visa. But on the other side ist the family you have in Germany a important reason, that you get a visa, so the chance is better than 50%.

I hope I could help you, you can ask for further information.

Best regards
