Welcome to Justanswer.
Most Bluray drives allow changing of the Region Code up to five times. You can do this using the Control Panel.
Please do the following:
Right-click on the "Computer" icon on your desktop and choose "Properties". In the next windows click on "Device Manager".
You should see a list of all your devies. Locate your BluRay Player and open it by double clicking on it. In the upcoming window there should be an option to change the Region Code.
If your drive does not offer this feature, you can alternatively use a software tool to play BluRay Discs that have a different Region Code.
Use "BluRay Region Code Remover" to do this.
You can find the tool here:
Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately the program
http://www.themisteriosos.com/remove-blu-ray-region-code-with-blu-ray-region-code-remover.htm, which I have installed, does not solve my problem. I want to be able to read DVDs (not only Blu-Rays) from zone 1,zone 2 and zone 5. I have tried AnyDVD HD 18.104.22.168, without success. I have tried DVD region + CSS free but it does not work either. The most important thing for me is to be able to read DVD from different zones (more important than Blu-ray from different zones).
My hard ware: MATSHITA BD-RE UJ242 1.00 on a Dell Latitude E4310. Windows Ultimate 32 bits (i.e. XP mode available too).
Thanks in advance for your help.

I have just tried DVDFab passkey 7. Does not work either :(
What can I do?
Thanks for your reply.
Please try VLC Media Player to play back your DVDs.
You can get it here:
You could also use the DVD Ripper software "DVD Shrink" including DeCSS. Though DeCSS is banned in most countries, I am not allowed to give you a download link. But Google is your friend :)
Thank you for your answer. I have installed VLC MEdia Player but it will not play zones 1 or 5. DVD Shrink works too, but only with DVDs from zone 2... I never had such problems on my previous computers: DVD Region + CSS Free would always work fine, so did DVD Shrink. But this MATSHITA BD-RE UJ242 seems to be quite difficult (or impossible???) to unlock? What do you think? I did not know when I bought my Dell computer that I would have this MATSHITA BD-RE UJ242 causing me so much problems...
Thanks for your help.
Looks like the newer drives can note be cracked yet.
Please have a look at this forum:
You can get a cracked firmware there for many drives. Unfortunatley yours is not supported yet. If you don't like to wait, I suggest you buy a drive that is supported by a patched firmware.
Is there a drive (BR dual layer writer, DVD+/- R dual layer writer that would suit for my machine Dell E4310 (quite slim) that you would recommend and that could be unlocked... of course.
Or do you think an external tiny small USB (or SATA) DVD reader could solve the problem? Can such external DVD readers be unlocked easily?
You still have not answered my last questions:
Dann kann ich jetzt ihre antwort nicht akzpetieren...
If you do not answer my questions I want my money back!
I was expecting a much better service...
Why am I not getting any answer anymore? What is happening? I am very disappointed.
If you cannot or do not want to help me I will ask my Credit Card to block the transaction.
Either you help me or I want my money back.

Hello please give a look here
then you have probably to buy another DVD Drive.
I´ve found this for you.
Hope this will help you by this issue.
Have a nice day
Thank you for your answer.
My problem is: I cannot find a firmware to unlock my MATSHITA BD-RE UJ242 on a Dell Latitude E4310. It is a Blu-Ray writer. As I am travelling quite often from Switzerland (Where I live, zone 2) to the USA (zone 1) and to Russia (Moscow, zone 5) I would like to be able to watch DVDs (not only Blu-Rays) from these different regions on my laptop as often as I want. I have always been able to unlock my optical drives on my previous laptops using a simple free software (like DVD free). But this time it does not work. I probably need another firmware. But where????
What other solutions do I have? Buy an external SATA or USB DVD-drive? Which one would you recommand? It MUST be code-free:)
by some DVD Players you can only change the region 5 times. After this you cannot change the region. Last region you´ve changed will be the final region.
You can search for this DVD Rom:
Toshiba SD-M1712 DVD Laufwerk Codefree
and then with this tool
you can unlock always.
Hope this was helpfull for you.
my explanation was helpfull for you?
Please then take my answer.
Thank you for your answer. So if i have understood everything well, my my MATSHITA BD-RE UJ242 cannot be unlocked because there is no firmware available. Is that correct?
I had a look at Toshiba SD-M1712. What I need, I think, is an external DVD reader (with USB 2 connection or eSATA connection. But it needs to be very light and slim because I will have to carry it with me on the plane, connect it to my Dell Latitude E4310 as often as I want and watch movies (DVDs) from all regions. Toshiba SD-M1712 looks maybe OK, but is it really a USB external drive? It looks so big... Then of course I need to be sure that the model I will buy can be made code-free! The USB external drive needs to be powered by the USB (or eSATA) port. On a plane, I will not be able to connect this device to another power supply!
I have just sent you another e-mail with some additional questions.
Toshiba is not for your scope then.
try this one slim and usb
Thank you for your answer. This external drive looks nice, althouugh there is some negative information on Amazon.com. But in fact I do not need a writer (or burner), just a DVD reader, so it should be OK for me. Now I still have 2 questions (very important):
1) Will it work with Windows 7 ultimate on my Dell Latitude E4310?
2) Will it be code free or will unlocking be possible (and easy)? This is very important. I need a code-free DVD reader.
If the answer is yes (for sure), then I will order this DVD reader on amazon.com and I will be able to accept your answer.
Yes of course Sir.
Buy it and you will lose your problem definitely.
I´m waiting for your response and thank you for accepting my Answer.
Well, there is another problem: where can I buy this device:
So it seems impossible to buy it from amazon.com and have it shipped to where I live (Switzerland). I tried amazon.de and the problem is the same.
What is the use of this device if I cannot buy it????
Sir i´m sorry,
but could you please first accept my answer?
Then i would try to find some other device for you or the way where you can buy this one.
Till now i was answered your questions but still don´t get a cent from you.
Well, I need to be sure I can get this device and have it shipped to Switzerland. Another device could work too but it has to be very light and slim and powered by the USB port only. And I need to be sure it can be code-free. It has to work with Windows 7 ultimate.
If these conditions are fulfilled of course I will accept your answer so that you can get paid.
here you can buy it and this company will delivery to your nation.
Hope this help.
Thank you for your answer. Please have a look at the picture I have included. It still does not work. Impossible to have this item shipped to Switzerland... I need a better solution.
Thanks in advance.
OK... I wish it was not so complicated. You do not have any other link where I can buy this device more easily? A web shop in Switzerland would probably make things easier... But I could not find this device in a web Swiss shop... Just too bad. Well, I will try to phone tomorrow to the USA and I will tell you whether it works or not.
P.S: I could find external DVD USB drives in the Swiss Dell internet shop. There are a bit more expensive but I would not mind. But I need to be sure that I can unlock them and how. If not, this is useless for me. I could not find this information. Maybe you could have a look at dell.ch, select a device, check whether it can be unlocked and if yes the problem would be solved. Then of course I would accept your answer.
Thank you for your mail. Still, you have not answered my question concerning which device I should buy at dell.ch and whether it could be unlocked or not. And of course, how it could be unlocked....
i don´t know if the dell device is able to do this.
look at this. This is Region Free.
The device you indicate is quite interesting... but.... can it be powered by USB only? This is very important if I want to connect it to my laptop on a plane e.g.
I could not find this information.... Then well, I don't know.
I need a device that can be powered by USB (or eSATA) (I have this port too on my Latitude Dell laptop).
Here is some more information:
Have a look at the picture I have enclosed too.
This web shop is in Switzerland so buying one of these devices should be quite easy. But which one should I choose? I mean: which one is really USB-powered and which one is code-free? Or which one can be made code-free easily (by a software like DVD Region + CSS free). I have this software on two other laptops and it works fine. But no software seems to be sufficient to unlock the drive I have on my new Dell Latitude and no firmware seems to be available.
Samsung S084C Black
Hi and Welcome!for RPC1 patching TSST drives, there are two tools available. Please start with reading the FAQ that is linked in my signature. Please be aware, that you will void any warranty on your drive after haveing flashed a modified firmware.Michael __________________Mini-FAQ for Samsung DVD writers * HOWTO Flash Firmware of a Samsung (TSST) DVD writer
I have just had a look at the link you sent me. That seems to me terribly risky and complicated.
The easiest thing would be: an external USB DVD drive that would be code free using DVD Region + CSS free software. Can't you find such a device for me? (A device that I could by on a web shop situated in Switzerland).
yes of course look here
Thank you for the link. Looks interesting. But you still have not answered my question entirely: which one will work for all zones with Region + CSS free software?
What is the use of buying a device if I cannot play DVDs frome zones 1, 2 and 5?
Sure i was answered your question:

With this firmware you can unlook the device and make fre region.
Thank you for accepting finally my answer.
I am sorry but I need to tell you I am not satisfied with your answers.
First, you have not been able to help me to unlock my MATSHITA BD-RE UJ242.
Then, you sent me information about external DVD readers that are not available in Switzerland. Finally I asked you to give me the reference for an external device that would become code-free with a simple software (I have bought Region + CSS free software and it works fine on my other computers). The links you sent me give very complicated information (I am not an expert), with the need to flash the firmware -> which will void the guarantee.
I went this evening to a shop in Lausanne (FNAC). The guy really helped me: we tried an external device, and it works fine for all regions with Region + CSS free software ). This is the piece information I wanted from you. The device is small, light, USB-powered, and there is no need to flash the firmware (then I still have my guarantee).
In conclusion, I cannot accept your answer.
